The separation of solid substances dissolved in a liquid with discrete particle sizes into larger and smaller particle size groups is called classification. Classification separation is the use of a centrifuge to separate particles by applying centrifugal force to the particles and adjusting the flow rate to target a standard particle size. The process adds value to the product, such as improving industrial performance and quality, by making use of the homogenising characteristics of the particles by aligning their sizes. ‘Which separations are difficult?’ is often asked. The following are examples of difficult advanced separations. Difficult condition 1: ・Separation of liquids and liquids with small differences in specific gravity. <Past experience>  Separation of light liquids with a specific gravity of 0.97-0.98 compared to heavy liquids with a specific gravity of 1. Difficult condition 2: ・Separation of very small particles. <Past experience> Classification and separation of fine particles of 1/1000 µm. Particles larger than 1u are collected as solids and those smaller than 1u are collected as slurry.
